This position is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of the Civic Center including rentals, facility maintenance, and day-to-day operations.
This position also plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs assigned recreational programs and activities which may include park facility rentals, competitive sports, playground and day camp programs, teen programs, special classes, and special events.
The Civic Center/Event Coordinator will additionally assist in the planning and implementation of all major events for the City of Kaufman.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Serves as the first point of contact to the public for questions regarding the Civic Center and recreation/park rentals.
Oversees the Civic Center and all daily maintenance and operations.
Oversees, coordinates, and participates in the preparation, scheduling, and use of required facilities for assigned programs and activities for both the Civic Center and park facilities.
Communicate with scheduled groups/individuals to confirm the use of the facility and identify the needs of the user.
Updates emergency and other pertinent information on a regular and as-needed basis.
Manages and maintains reservations of the Civic Center and parks facilities including collecting deposit and rental fees, providing information and assistance to users of facilities, and assisting visitors by phone, email, or walk-in.
Maintains records for the Civic Center and other responsibilities; maintains and files reports for management staff; and prepares statistical reports, as required.
Responsible for planning and coordinating City events and promotions to bring visitors to the community, including contacting and securing vendors and sponsorships, delegating tasks to respective departments, and obtaining volunteers to assist at events.
Coordinates quality festivals and events in the community to increase tourism, create powerful and memorable branding, encourage positive media coverage, enhance economic impact, and add to the quality of life for Kaufman residents and visitors.
Promotes Kaufman and its attractions and hotels as a tourist destination, a place to bring a business, and a unique shopping opportunity.
Maintains relationships with the leaders of Kaufman businesses, hotels, and attractions, as well as community stakeholders.
Partners with community stakeholders and the leaders of businesses, hotels, and attractions to attract people to events and stay in local hotels.
Supports the relationship between the City of Kaufman and the public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, customers, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.
Develops knowledge and education regularly through workshops, research, and seminars, and shares best practices, local marketing ideas, and tactics with the team.
Participates in the preparation and administration of assigned budget, submits budget recommendations, and monitors expenditures.
Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree, or higher, preferred.
Experience with basic office equipment operations.
Knowledge of basic mathematics (particularly with calculating fees, calculating dimensions, and handling money).
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a deadline-driven environment to provide quality and timely customer service to the public.
Municipal Government experience preferred LANGUAGE SKILLS Proficiency in the English language, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding; basic rules of writing, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Any level of English/Spanish bilingual proficiency and ability to translate a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
