The Nurse Practitioner works as part of the clinic provider team performing a variety of direct patient services including assessment, diagnosis, implementation of treatment, evaluation, and monitors the general patient management plan for clinic patients.
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for delivery of quality medical care to the patients of the center and functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team within the scope of his/her medical practice.
Essential Functions:
Obtains complete medical history from patient.
Prescribes medications under the delegations of the supervising physician according to therapeutic goals, explains treatment to patients and families in accordance with TSBME and TSBNE regulations.
Performs complete physical examinations on patients, including pelvic exams if needed Initiates and monitors patient management plans for patients assigned using protocols or consultation with a supervising physician.
Refers patients requiring hospitalization or assessment and management of conditions to supervising physicians or appropriate specialist.
Renders emergency care and treatment including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, starting I-V fluids and medications.
Maintains all patient records to comply with required standards, review records regularly, and obtain physician counter signatures where necessary.
Entries in the medical records will be legible and timely.
Qualifications Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
Must have at least 3 years' experience as a nurse practitioner (must have pediatric experience) Current CPR/BLS certification Texas license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner Job Type:
