Summary:
This position performs work of average difficulty related to public relations, OSSF permitting procedures, preparing court documents, filing, record keeping, and other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:

) Answers telephone and walks-in public questions for the Development Services Department regarding OSSF information, 911 addressing, Plats, Building permits, Use of County Land Permits, and directing the public to the proper person regarding such questions.
Receives and verifies paperwork and collects fees for new OSSF permits, 911 applications, Culvert Permits, Platting, Building Permits, and Use of County Land Permits.
Review completed permits and enter the information into the proper database.
Receives and verifies that OSSF Maintenance Contract Renewals are complete and enters the information into the SAFE database.
Receives and verifies that OSSF Maintenance Inspection Reports are complete and enters the information into the SAFE database.
Downloads electronically submitted contracts and inspection reports into the SAFE database as necessary.
Uploads all TCEQ required documentation monthly and submits that documentation to TCEQ for review.
Receives applications and fees, issues receipts for OSSF permits, 911 addressing, culvert permits, platting, Building permits, and Use of County Land Permits, as well as forwarding permit paperwork to the appropriate person for review.
Prepares and sends notices to homeowners for expiring contract renewals.
Files certain documents in filing cabinets as required.
Receives and distributes postal mail and interoffice mail.
Prepares complaint forms for OSSF violations, subdivision violations, and Floodplain violations.
Performs other duties not outlined here in accordance with supervisor's requests and assignments.

Education and
Experience:
Must have a high school diploma (or GED certificate) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
County and State legal principles, practices, and procedures of office techniques.
Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Microsoft Access or other types of database entry software.
Operate standard office equipment, computers, and related computer software programs.
English grammar.
Skills and Abilities to:
Must have basic math skills.
Must be able to remain calm and maintain composure during a high volume of activity.
Communicate clearly both orally and in writing and to maintain confidentiality.
Establish good working relationships with co-workers, employees, and the general public in a courteous and friendly manner throughout the employment.

Adhere to an extensive group of office procedures and legal statutes.
Utilize computerized data entry equipment and various word processing, spreadsheet, and/or file maintenance programs to enter, store, and/or retrieve information as requested or otherwise necessary.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a valid and appropriate Texas Class C driver's license and acceptable driving record in this class series at appointment and throughout employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The clerk must be able to sit for long periods, type for extended periods, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
The clerk is sometimes required to climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Standard visual, speech, and hearing ability is required for operating essential office equipment, handling money, and customer service; must be able to distinguish colors visually.
The clerk must sometimes lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily in a climate-controlled open work area shared with other employees and open to the public.
The noise level is moderate.
